Awesome spring activities to do with a person living with a disability

  • Written by NewsServices.com

Melbourne is glorious in spring, largely owing to the fact that the horrible weather starts to clear up and there are finally some sunny days on the horizon. Whether you’re enjoying one of our city’s immaculate gardens, heading for a nicer-weather beach day or simply just enjoying getting out of hibernation, spring is a great time to enjoy a wealth of uber fun activities in The City by the Bay!

As the best disability service providers Melbourne has, you will know that this is also a great time to go out and enjoy the sun with your clients, especially given there are so many fun things going on at this time of year.

Here are four to get you started:

  1. Picnic in the park

Melbourne is the capital city in Victoria - Australia’s “garden state”. Therefore, you can trust that there are a huge amount of places that make for the perfect picnic spot in our beautiful town!

Whether it’s the lush and vibrant Fitzroy Gardens, the activity and sports centre of Flagstaff Gardens, the legendary Royal Botanical Gardens or somewhere outside of the city centre, you’re never short of free space to pack a delicious lunch and enjoy the gorgeous turn of spring.

What’s more, spring is the time when all of the stunning parks and their flowers begin to blossom, ensuring that you will have plenty of beautiful colour to enjoy when you head down with your basket of goodies.

  1. Enjoy the wonderful cafes

Melbourne is a cafe city, often being derided by other cities as being quite snobby when it comes to our cafe culture. But, hey, our cafes are the best? So, why shouldn’t we be able to enjoy them, especially when the weather picks up and the sun is shining?

Spring is the best time of year to enjoy Melbourne’s cafes: we can emerge from the dreary indoors and enjoy a coffee and meal in the warmth of the sun, before the year’s heat really picks up and it’s almost better to be inside once again!

  1. Head to AFL finals

What an awesome season it's been so far, with so many twists and turns in what has easily been one of the most competitive AFL seasons in years. What’s even better is that the teams dominating the ladder are mostly Victorian, meaning our town (and Geelong, of course) is going to be an awesome place to enjoy the finals series!

So, why not grab you and your client a couple of tickets and head to a match? The finals series is such a great time of year not only because it’s the time when we Victorians truly get to celebrate our local game, but also because the weather is nice and the vibes are high, making for an awesome occasion for sports-lovers and everyday enthusiasts alike…

  1. Get out of town

Melbourne is a city that - alongside having plenty of beauty around town - has a plethora of gorgeous places to visit right outside our city centre. Whether you’re heading down the Great Ocean Road for a sunny spring day at the beach, going for a cheeky hike up in the Dandenongs or heading down the Peninsula for more outdoors adventure, we are truly spoiled for choice when it comes to the wondrous natural spots we have awaiting us just outside of town.
