New Afternoon Tea Set Offered at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing Featuring Legendary Red VelvetDesserts Inspired by the Vera Wang's Red Katherine Dress
BEIJING, CHINA - Media OutReach[1] - December 8, 2017 -Two of the world's most iconic luxury brands, Waldorf Astoria and VERA WANG, are collaborating to present a luxury wedding experience for Chinese brides in Beijing. In line with this partnership, a Katherine dress themed afternoon tea set will be available from December 9, 2017 to March 11, 2018 at Waldorf Astoria Beijing's Peacock Alley as part of the luxury wedding offer, following by a launch event hosted on December 3, 2017 at the hotel's Hutong Villa.
The exquisite VERA WANG Afternoon Tea Set available at Waldorf Astoria Beijingis offered in the stylish and relaxing confines of the Peacock Lounge. Priced at RMB 468 per set plus 15-percent service charge, it features a delicate assortment of scones, savouries, and pastries that will be sure to satisfy the most discerning clientele. With a distinctive red theme among the offerings, the set includes iconic dishes such as classic cranberry scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, beetroot crêpes with succulent roasted Beijing duck and crispy spring roll skin with red caviar, mayonnaise and strawberry. The desserts on offer take inspiration from the fashion designer Vera Wang's red Katherine dress. Among the desserts are a handful of variations of the classic red velvet cake including lipstick NY red velvet cake, mini raspberry macaroons, raspberry chocolate truffle, and bride in red dress cookies that draw heavily from Vera Wang's gown designs.
"We are extremely fortunate to be able to welcome such a respectable and critically-acclaimed fashion designer label as that of Vera Wang", said Brian Tong, Waldorf Astoria Beijing's General Manager, on the Katherine themed afternoon tea launch event.
The red theme is prominent in every aspect of the afternoon tea set. Red is a colour that embodies both the legacy of the Waldorf Astoria brand, and the elegant VERA WANG Katherine dress. The globally renowned Red Velvet Cake was invented in New York City's Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1959 and has been served at festive holidays such as Christmas and Valentine's Day all over the world for more than five decades. At its heart, privilege, and romance are expressed in the red tinge and fluffy texture of this recognisable dessert that is enjoyed by global travellers. For the Katherine dress, red is the symbol of love, fortune, and joy that signifies the VERA WANG brand. The design of the dress is known for its royal and romantic expressions, whilst still exhibiting a modern, graceful and contemporary impression.
The romance, royalty and privilege that are symbolic of the Vera Wang's Katherine Afternoon Tea makes it the ideal setting for brides and brides-to-be to share their wedding plans as they prepare for their upcoming nuptials and the prospect of marrying the person they love. A chance to relax in Peacock Alley over afternoon tea, brides can converse together about their wedding plans while enjoying the delightful refreshments as they plan one of the most important days in their lives.
