BANGKOK, THAILAND - Media OutReach[1] - 2 July 2018 - DHL eCommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, today announced the introduction of DHL Parcel Metro in Greater Bangkok. The service uses DHL's digital platform to allow Thai online retailers to offer consumers with same-day delivery, real-time tracking and flexible rescheduling of deliveries, whilst keeping last mile delivery affordable and easy for retailers. Designed for cities and metro areas, DHL Parcel Metro complements DHL's drive to improve last-mile deliveries in urban environments and meet the ever-changing demands of the urban consumer.

"Megacities around the world are seeing rapid urbanization and strong growth in e-commerce. The resulting surge in parcel deliveries and the growing urban consumer's demands for same-day and instant gratification calls for innovative solutions -- like DHL Parcel Metro -- to enable faster and smarter deliveries, and relieve last mile pressures faced by retailers," said Charles Brewer, CEO, DHL eCommerce.

DHL Parcel Metro allows retailers to ship parcels up to 20kg with a late cut-off time of 12pm for same-day delivery within Greater Bangkok, while consumers can enjoy real-time tracking and rescheduling of deliveries.

DHL Parcel Metro allows retailers to ship parcels up to 20kg and enjoy a late cut-off time of 12pm for same-day delivery within Greater Bangkok. Real-time tracking, agile rescheduling of deliveries and instant rating of the delivery experience will also be possible for the consumer. The digital platform, which can be fully customized with the retailer's brand, uses a dynamic dispatching and routing engine to improve cost and operational efficiency, and supports a range of delivery modes -- including motorcycles, bicycles, and foot couriers, alongside more conventional vans and cars -- for maximum speed and agility in complex and often congested urban environments.

"Demand for same-day delivery is expected to increase by over 43% per annum[1] and retailers who offer same-day delivery will see significant advantage in e-commerce. Increasingly, we already see urban, time-constrained and on-demand consumers expecting instant and same-day deliveries for their online purchases. To give them not only fast and reliable deliveries but also a seamless, personalized digital experience, Thai e-retailers can now make use of DHL Parcel Metro to win and retain their trust. This will be easy for retailers with DHL Parcel Metro offering market leading advantages, enabling shipments up to 20kg and a late cut-off time of 12pm for same-day delivery, so that retailers can sell more and deliver more to their consumers within the same day," said Kiattichai Pitpreecha, Managing Director, DHL eCommerce Southeast Asia.

DHL Parcel Metro complements DHL eCommerce Thailand's current delivery service, which includes 100% nationwide coverage. DHL eCommerce offers same day and next day services for Tier 1 cities and 2-3 days for more remote areas. Coupled with its growing network of DHL ServicePoints, which is set to reach over 1,000 by the end of 2018, DHL eCommerce provides sellers and consumers with convenient pick-up and drop-off locations across the country.

DHL eCommerce is part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, and together with its sister divisions DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain and DHL Global Forwarding, the Group offers end-to-end solutions for e-commerce retailers and has been present in Thailand since 1973.
